The bubble capture type of submerged target consists of a target body and an attached target paddle. During play, the target is submerged
upside-down such that all external air escapes from the target body. The target body contains a specific amount of internal air or other
low-density material such as foam, plastic, etc., so that the target as a whole has a net density at least slightly higher than that of
water. The low-density material is positioned within the target so that the target will remain upright while submerged in water. The
target may sink slowly or quickly toward the bottom of the pool. When an air containing vortex ring strikes the target paddle the ring
disintegrates and the released air bubbles upward and is captured by the target body. As air is captured the net buoyancy of the target
increases until the target floats to the water surface.
